We believe the most interesting homes are collected, not simply decorated. Filled with things that tell stories, hold memories and reflect the people who live in them. Things that are beautiful, a little unexpected and unmistakably personal.
That's the idea behind Akka Home.
Our story began while renovating a home of our own. We were searching for tiles with character, a sense of history and something to say. Instead, we found endless catalogues, complicated ordering processes and very little room to make something our own.
So we decided to create what we couldn't find.
Today, Akka Home❁ is a family-run Australian design studio creating artful, thoughtfully crafted pieces for the home. We draw inspiration from traditional craftsmanship and the decorative arts, reinterpreting familiar forms with a modern, playful sensibility.
Our approach is simple: original design, considered craftsmanship and a belief that even the most practical objects deserve to be beautiful.
Inspired by tradition. Made for now.
We began with Delft tiles, a centuries-old tradition of painting stories onto small ceramic squares. Historically, these tiles captured the world around them: sailing ships, pastoral scenes, animals and the rituals of everyday life.
We loved the idea that something so ordinary could become a little piece of art. So we continued the tradition, with a few stories of our own.
A bee. A teapot. Baguettes and butter. A strawberry plant that will never need watering. And sometimes, something entirely yours: a beloved dog, a family home, a date worth remembering.
Each of our ceramic tiles begins as an original drawing and is painted by hand in our Sydney studio. No two are quite alike. The subtle differences in brushstroke, colour and glaze are part of their character, and a reminder of the hands that made them.
It's this balance of nostalgia and novelty, tradition and playfulness, art and utility that continues to guide everything we create.

We don't believe beautiful things should be too precious to use.
Our pieces are intended for the everyday: kitchens where meals are shared, hallways that welcome you home, and the small corners that become part of a family's memories.
Whether it's a hand-painted tile, a piece of furniture or an object for the home, we're drawn to things that have personality. Thoughtful details, interesting materials, familiar forms seen a little differently. Pieces that feel collected rather than simply purchased.
And while we care deeply about how things are made, we care just as much about how they're experienced. From transparent pricing to thoughtful customisation, we want creating a personal home to feel inspiring, not intimidating.
Delft tiles are where our story began, but they're only the beginning. As Akka Home grows, so does our collection, guided by the same curiosity and appreciation for craftsmanship, originality and the beauty of everyday things.
