Every tile tells a story — even the ones that don’t make it into our main collection. These Delft Tile Tests are one-off pieces, created during colour, glaze, and motif trials in our studio.
Each tile is sold as shown in the image, imperfections and all. They may include variations in glaze, tone, or small marks that make them unsuitable for full retail sale — but each remains a genuine hand-painted work with its own charm and character.
Rather than letting them go to waste, we’re offering them here at a special discounted rate. Availability is as listed — once they’re gone, they’re gone. Please note, these items are final sale and non-returnable.
If you’d like your tile converted into a coaster, simply select the appropriate style and we’ll finish it accordingly.

Every single tile is hand drawn and hand painted in our studio in Newport, Sydney. Given the artisanal nature of each piece, there will inevitably be variations in each piece such as variations in glaze, marks, or imperfections. We believe this is what makes each tile a piece of art, and not an identical, mass produced object.
Please keep this in mind if you’re looking for perfectly consistent pieces.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I use Delft tiles? Are they okay for wet areas and floors?
Our Delft Tiles are ceramic, making them highly durable; they are water, heat, scratch and stain resistant. These means that they are versatile and can be used in various applications, including backsplashes, wall accents, and decorative elements. They can also be used in wet areas like bathrooms and laundries, though it is crucial that they are properly installed and grouted to protect against moisture. For floor use, it's best to consult with our team for recommendations on specific products suited for floor applications.
What colour grout should I use?
We think a white grout looks best to complement the colour of the tile. But a darker grout will emphasise the shape of each tile and give a contrasting effect.
What colours are available?
Our Delft Tiles come in 3 colours: Bayswater blue is a brighter reinterpretation of 17th century delft blue. The collective effect of a Bayswater collection is bold, with a clear reference to the antique history of the tile. Borgo blue has a soft grey undertone. The collective effect of a Borgo collection is clean, whimsical and modern. Granger red is a striking red with warm undertones. The collective effect of a Granger collection is bright and refined, perfect for creating a statement while maintaining classic appeal.
How many tiles do I need?
The tile quantity required per m2 is 100 tiles. Also ensure you add +15% to factor in cuts, waste and breaks. If you need help calculating how many tiles you need, get in touch.
How many Corner-Only Delft Tiles should I buy?
This is completely up to personal preference. Some people will have every tile decorated with a motif while others will only want a handful scattered around. As a general rule of thumb we think there should be a minimum of 20-30% decorated, with the remainder corners only.
