Korean Joseon Era Delft Tile Mural

We are so proud to launch our mural range with our Joseon Era collection.

This special collection is an homage to our father’s Korean heritage. From imagery depicting ladies in traditional dress to weavers at their looms, these tiles capture quotidian scenes from the Joseon Era.

Deflt tiles are works of art, and we are excited to be releasing these works, which combine the Portuguese lineage of Delft with 14th century Korean imagery. The outcome is thoroughly modern, and yet timeless.

Each tile is hand-painted by our father, and the linework is exquisite and delicate. Truly unique, these pieces are full of contemplative narrative character.    

• The tile: 10.8 cm / 4¼ in square × 0.8 cm deep — every scene is built from these
• The panels: counted in tiles. A 1×2 scene measures 10.8 × 21.6 cm; a 2×2 is 21.6 cm square
• Material: earthenware ceramic, gloss glaze — heat, scratch and water resistant
• Made: drawn, painted, glazed and fired by hand in Australia
• Care: mild detergent or vinegar with water, wiped with a soft cloth

Painted panel by panel to order, with a lead time of 2–4 weeks. Domestic orders ship via AusPost; international via FedEx — tracked, with all duties and import taxes covered by us.

Shipping is free over AUD $1,000; otherwise calculated at checkout. Returns are welcome within 30 days of delivery, in original condition.

How is a mural installed? Exactly as any tile is — the scene's tiles are laid in order and grouted like the rest of the wall. Most murals are set into a field of corner or plain tiles, which gives the scene room to read.

What grout should I use? White complements the glaze; a darker grout emphasises each tile's shape and reads more graphic.
